MAKING DECISIONS

 In Sandra Seh!

“You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.”― Michelle Obama.

“Just really, really believe in what you’re trying to do. Don’t let people alter that. ……. But trust your instinct and trust that overwhelming drive that made you put all your dreams and everything on the line. Luke Bryan

I had kept talking and talking about doing something new. Switching careers and making a serious life change.
I was in a rut. At that time I worked for one of the major banks as a loans officer. This was just when computers were beginning to be used. Hey, it wasn’t that long ago and we were always supposed to up-sell our clients, keep track of overdrafts, increase their loan asks and listen to their many stories such as why they wrote cheques knowing they had no money. We had to know our customers.

The job was stressful. Anyway to make a long story short and to show how sometimes decisions are forced upon us before we may be ready, something happened that forced me to make a decision.

I had a client who applied for a mortgage, closing in a month. I glanced briefly at the application and assured him with great confidence that everything looked fine and he would be hearing from me.

His application however got buried at the bottom of a very big pile. The day arrived for him to come in and sign for the mortgage and when I finally checked he did not qualify.
As you can imagine he was not a happy man and we had to scramble to come up with an alternative, as it was clearly my error

This was a firing offence if ever there was one, but it forced me to take stock. So I did what I do best. I went to dinner and talked the whole sad saga over with a friend and I made a pros & cons list.

How would I survive making a move? What would I do? What did I really want to do with my life?
What would my next adventure be??
Well that’s another story for another time but suffice it to say that wake–up call changed my life. I was glad I listened and made the move.
Go for it! Leap into the unknown. It just might be the best jump you ever made.
